DevOps and Infrastructure Engineer

Role Summary/Purpose

LiveData is looking for a hands-on, energetic and highly adaptable DevOps/Infrastructure engineer to join our Infrastructure team.  You will be an integral part of a team effort to take our existing internal and external development, release and deployment tools and processes for product releases and customer implementation to a new level of operational excellence.

You will work closely with software developers, QA, client services engineers, Product Management, and Sales to design, build, maintain and scale development and test infrastructure for our hybrid AWS cloud and on-premises solutions.

The ideal candidate is a fast learner, and is energized by helping team members succeed by being very responsive and ensuring a high up-time and minimal turnover time for development and test environments.   He or she will also help the team stay up to date on the latest DevOps best practices, tools, and methodologies through funded ongoing tech education and sharing this knowledge with the team on a regular basis.

This is a full-time opportunity working out of our Cambridge, MA office.

Essential Responsibilities

  • ‪Support and automate our AWS cloud environment setup and software deployment
  • Tool evaluation and development that supports, configures, monitors, and maintains our cloud environment
  • Service and maintain the on-premises server environment that supports development and testing
  • Support release engineering activities including branching and tagging release branches according to company policy, generating and tagging release candidates, and other activities in support of a product release
  • Develop and deploy appropriate test environments to support the QA process
  • Maintain documentation of our Development, QA, Demo, and Production environments
  • Help design and develop a continuous integration and automated test environment for nightly automated tests at the middleware and UI levels of the product
  • Perform general system administration tasks in the office for on-site and remote employees
  • Serve as an administrator for all IT systems including customer support portals, ticket management systems, source code management systems, continuous integration systems, test case management systems, automated test infrastructure and more



  • ‪Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Expertise in Python and PowerShell
  • Exposure to an object-oriented language such as C# or Java
  • Experience working with and maintaining Windows Server / Microsoft SQL Server environments
  • Experience setting up, maintaining, backing up and restoring virtual machines for development, staging and production environments
  • Experience with provisioning and maintaining cloud infrastructure, AWS preferred
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Experience working with a team using an Agile, scrum methodology a plus
  • Knowledge of, or experience in, the field of healthcare IT a plus, but not required
  • Use of cloud infrastructure and development tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Git a plus

Director of Software Engineering

LiveData Utilities is looking for a dynamic, hands-on, technical, and self-driven Director of Software Engineering. The Director of Software Engineering will lead, organize, and nurture the software team that develops and deploys real-time dataflow solutions to the energy industry. Our solutions are based on our core RTI Server engine. RTI Server is used across the utility industry to manage complex dataflow integrations of the Smart Grid. 

The Director of Software Engineering will manage all aspects of the engineering department, including product development, coding, code performance, project management, release scheduling, ‌sprint timing, QA, release schedules, and cybersecurity. The Director will work closely with the Professional Services team to ensure customer success.

We have over 100 utility customers using our products to communicate, consolidate, visualize, and analyze electrical grid data.
