Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Role Summary/Purpose

LiveData is looking for a hands-on, energetic, and highly adaptable Senior Quality Assurance engineer to join our Healthcare applications Quality Assurance team.  You will be an integral part of a team effort to take our existing internal and external testing, release, and deployment processes and tools to a new level of excellence.

You will work closely with software developers, client services engineers, Product Management, and our system integration partners to test our hybrid AWS cloud and on-premises solutions.

The ideal candidate is a fast learner and is energized by helping team members succeed in the development of the highest quality software possible. He or she will have worked in an Agile/Scrum development environment and employed best practices to insure quality.

 This is a full-time opportunity working out of our Cambridge, MA office.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Review Functional & Technical requirements, specifications, technical design documents and end-user documentation to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases for functional, regression, and end-to-end testing, including both back-end and front-end testing of entire systems, subsystems, and interfaces to other systems
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
  • Contribute in testing areas such as Data, Functional, Security, Accessibility, Integration, Internationalization, Localization, Performance, Installation, and Browser/OS testing
  • Design, develop and execute automation scripts using open source tools
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs
  • Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
  • Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements
  • Create traceability and requirements coverage matrices to ensure the quality of the features under test
  • Set up and maintain test data and test environments
  • Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts

  • Verify deployments for both major, minor and patch releases
  • Monitor and report to management and/or technical lead on project status, identify issues that may impede attainment of goals, recommend and implement corrective measures
  • Observe Agile/Scrum methodologies and best practices
  • Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and strategies
  •  ‘Own’ the assigned project and stay on top of all project activities, issues, risks, deliverables, milestones and dependencies

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Proven work experience in software quality assurance
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes
  • Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
  • Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools (Selenium a plus)
  • Solid knowledge of SQL and a scripting language (Powershell, Python, etc.)
  • Knowledge of JIRA and SVN
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus
  • Knowledge of, or experience in, the field of healthcare software development/QA a plus
  • Knowledge of Git, Gherkin, Cucumber, or any of their equivalents, a plus
  • Excellent oral, written and analytical skills and demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement
  • Excellent problem-solving/troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, small team environment

Director of Software Engineering

LiveData Utilities is looking for a dynamic, hands-on, technical, and self-driven Director of Software Engineering. The Director of Software Engineering will lead, organize, and nurture the software team that develops and deploys real-time dataflow solutions to the energy industry. Our solutions are based on our core RTI Server engine. RTI Server is used across the utility industry to manage complex dataflow integrations of the Smart Grid. 

The Director of Software Engineering will manage all aspects of the engineering department, including product development, coding, code performance, project management, release scheduling, ‌sprint timing, QA, release schedules, and cybersecurity. The Director will work closely with the Professional Services team to ensure customer success.

We have over 100 utility customers using our products to communicate, consolidate, visualize, and analyze electrical grid data.
