Intraoperative Phase at MGH

Image

LiveData OR-Dashboard displays Intraop during the bulk of the time for the case, retaining the patient, procedure, allergy and staffing information, while adding the physiologic information and the progress log which populates automatically throughout the case. The screen itself is divided into various panes, each of which provides different types of information.

1. Patient/Procedure Information: This section contains information such as patient demographics including name, age, weight, and MRN, the procedure and laterality, and information pertaining to the type of anesthesia.

2. Staff: The staffing list provides information on who is in the room, populated by a real-time location tracking system.

3. Allergies: The allergies information is persistently displayed throughout the case, highlighting the importance of this information. Allergy and data source are displayed.

4. Intraoperative Pane: The intraoperative pane presents real-time physiologic waveform and trend data for the case. Real-time waveforms include EKG and oxygen saturation traces. Trend information includes heart rate from both EKG and oxygen saturation, SpO2, level of consciousness from the BIS monitor, pressure trends including invasive and noninvasive blood pressure, pulmonary artery pressure, and central venous pressure, and device data from the surgical insufflator. All trend information, including physiologic data and device data, is presented on the same axis to allow for easy interpretation of events. Additional information, such as the patient's temperature, is also presented.

5. Progress Log: The progress log automatically records and displays key events in the operative process including patient entering the room, timeout completion, procedure start and end, and patient leaving the room. The progress log may also be used for additional time-sensitive material such as the last administration of antibiotics or timers for tourniquets.

6. Patient Care Notes and Post-Op Information: Patient care notes and post-op information, collected during the case setup period, persist throughout the case. Post-op information is readily displayed including location of waiting family and loved ones along with the discharge plan, ensuring this information is easily available at the end of the case.

Physiologic trend data is displayed and archived over time, with a four minute window of increased resolution and a longer trend window displaying physiologic data over the past hour. Appropriate device data is also displayed on the same axis as physiologic information.
