The emerging trend in OR technology, a Wall of Knowledge delivers real-time case information—all relevant data and images—to the OR on rich displays. Components include: LiveData OR-Dashboard For aggregating and displaying real-time case information, automatically synchronized with OR workflow Audio visual system For displaying surgical and endoscopic video, pathology specimen, PACS, and other images as well as providing telecommunication links between the OR and other areas One-touch control For managing monitors, lighting, cameras, music, temperature, and other environmental settings LiveData Historian (Optional) Essentially a "TiVo®" for the case, combining case and patient data with surgical video for future playback and analysis
Building a Wall of Knowledge Hospitals that are upgrading or constructing new ORs can rely on LiveData to guide them through the complexities of implementing new technology, ensuring that their Wall of Knowledge is cost-effective and has the capability to meet future as well as current objectives. Working in partnership with hospitals, LiveData will: Determine exactly what information is needed when, in order to deliver optimal care Ensure that information delivery is well coordinated with perioperative workflow: OR teams can, for example, track equipment without interrupting the flow of surgery Identify audio-visual resources and communication connections for seamless transfer of perioperative information Develop strategies for using real-time video-conferencing capabilities in combination with LiveData OR-Dashboard to enhance communication between the OR and other hospital areas, such as pathology Ensure that all related delivery systems—instrumentation, information technology, imaging, communication systems—work together effectively
