Med Tech Cambridge company lands $800,000 SBIR grant Mass High Tech: The Journal of New England Technology - March 8, 2006 LiveData Inc. of Cambridge has received a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research grant of $800,000 from the U.S. Army Medical Research and Material Command. The LiveData team will be working with the Massachusetts General Hospital and the CIMIT Operating Room of the Future. (CIMIT is an acronym for a Cambridge-based organization, the Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology). LiveData company officials say the grant will help them continue their work with delivering real-time data about the patient to surgeons, nurses and other operating room professionals. The goal is to deliver relevant material to all operating room personnel to help them to make a safer operational environment. Company officials say its system is being tested at MGH, and plans include use in medical procedures for the first time in September. LiveData offers solutions to monitor, synthesize and respond to complex processes, and provide workable information from devices, diverse protocols, systems and databases. CIMIT is a consortium with MGH and the Harvard teaching hospitals with scientists and engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, drawn together to accelerate investigator ideas into medical practice. |
