National Time Out Day: Sponsored by AORN, ACS, The Joint Commission; June 20, 2007

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) and The Joint Commission are partnering with AORN on its annual National Time Out Day observance. This is the fourth consecutive year AORN has sponsored this event, a reminder of The Joint Commission's mandated procedure for verifying  correct patient, correct procedure, and correct site before any surgery. Time Out is the last in a series of steps established in 2003 as part of The Joint Commission’s Universal Protocol for Preventing Wrong Site, Wrong Procedure, Wrong Person Surgery™.

LiveData OR-Dashboard, specifically designed to assist the OR team in improving patient safety, includes a Time Out feature. The dashboard automatically displays a Timeout panel just prior to the onset of surgery. Information for assisting the OR team with their specific procedure remains on display until the safety pause  is officially completed according to hospital protocol.
