LiveData OR-Dashboard Wins MITX ''Technology Impact Award'' for Contribution to Patient Safety, Improvement to Clinical Workflow

4th Annual MITX Technology Awards Honor Innovation in New England

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--LiveData, Inc. (www.livedata.com) has received the Sector Impact Award at the 2007 MITX Technology Awards. Presented by the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange, the MITX Technology Awards recognize innovative technologies developed in the New England area, as well as the individuals and organizations responsible for driving these advancements.

LiveData OR-Dashboard and the company’s Visually Integrated Operating Room were recognized as innovative technology that enhances OR patient safety and improves workflow efficiency.

In a visually integrated OR, LiveData OR-Dashboard monitors, captures, synchronizes, and automatically displays essential patient information on a large flat-panel screen; adjacent monitors display endoscopic and other surgical images as well as X-Ray and pathology reports via sophisticated audio-visual and remote communication capabilities. A visually integrated OR is also equipped for spontaneous and scheduled videoconferencing to remote sites within the facility, such as conference rooms, auditoriums, and other hospital departments.

Because LiveData OR-Dashboard functions in real time, a visually integrated OR delivers information to the entire team precisely when needed, automatically following the perioperative workflow. The system is capable of integrating all device data in an operating room as well as information from administrative, patient care, and hospital information systems, without data loss.

In introducing the honorees, Emily Green, president and CEO of The Yankee Group, said that the Impact Awards, which are not necessarily tied to one particular application or service, represent ground-breaking technology that is “above and beyond the judges’ expectations.” This is the first year that MITX has honored innovators with the Impact Awards.

“The MITX Impact Award honors the entire LiveData team. It was a thrill to receive this award in the presence of such luminaries as Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web” said LiveData CEO and President Jeffrey Robbins. “It is especially gratifying that this work is acknowledged and recognized in the world-class competitive landscape of Massachusetts.”

Sir Tim Berners-Lee, director of the World Wide Web consortium, was inducted into the MITX Hall of Fame.

“We have been extremely impressed with the breadth and quality of the nominations this year. They show incredible innovation across a variety of sectors and highlight the vitality of our local technology community,” said Kiki Mills, executive director of MITX. “As we continue to enjoy a surge in technology investments in New England, we are proud to showcase the contributions our community is making to global technology development.”

More than 200 of the region’s top technology and business professionals attended the MITX Awards ceremony last night at The Four Seasons Hotel in Boston. The Awards were sponsored by Adobe, Backbone Media, Inc., Lewis PR, Microsoft, Oracle and Technology Review, Inc.
