Fourth Annual MITX “What’s Next Forum & Technology Awards” Recognize Outstanding Technology Advancements in New England
Boston, May 30, 2007 – LiveData, Inc. [www.livedata.com ] today announced that it has been named as a finalist for the Fourth Annual MITX Technology Awards. The MITX What’s Next Forum & Technology Awards recognize innovative technologies developed in the New England area, as well as the individuals and organizations responsible for driving these advancements. The Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange (MITX) is the region’s premier association for thought leadership, technology trends, business networking, and professional training and development. Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, LiveData was nominated in the Data Management category.
LiveData is the developer of real-time visual integration for the operating room, a new category of technology for healthcare designed to promote patient safety while simultaneously improving clinical efficiency. In a visually integrated OR, LiveData OR-Dashboard monitors, captures, synchronizes, and automatically displays essential patient information on a large flat-panel screen; adjacent monitors display endoscopic and other surgical images as well as X-Ray and pathology reports via sophisticated audio-visual and remote communication capabilities. A visually integrated OR is also equipped for spontaneous and scheduled videoconferencing to remote sites within the facility, such as conference rooms, auditoriums, and other hospital departments.
Because LiveData OR-Dashboard functions in real time, a visually integrated OR delivers information to the entire team precisely when needed, automatically following the perioperative workflow through internal prompts. The system is capable of integrating all device data in an operating room as well as information from administrative, patient care, and hospital information systems, without data loss.
“So much of our research and early implementation work has been done right here in Massachusetts, with partners like CIMIT and Massachusetts General Hospital,” said LiveData CEO and President Jeffrey Robbins.” This is a team honor, and it is especially gratifying that their work is acknowledged and recognized right here at home.”
The other finalists in the Data Management category—which focuses on innovative technology products or services that assist companies in storing, moving, and managing data—are IBRIX, SolidWorks Corporation, and Vericept Corporation. Winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston on Tuesday, June 5. This year’s keynote speaker and special honoree is Tim Berners-Lee, Director of the World Wide Web Consortium.
“The regional economy is showing real strength, and it’s in no small part due to the resurgence in the technology sector and the innovation that fuels so much of the growth,” said Kiki Mills, executive director of MITX. “The MITX Technology Awards are a wonderful opportunity to recognize the companies that are leading the way and to celebrate their accomplishments and that of the entire technology community.”
The ceremony is preceded by the What’s Next Forum, which will be attended by the region’s top technology and business professionals. The topic “What’s Next for The Device Web: Emerging User Experiences” will be a forward-looking discussion about the exciting new world that is coming the consumer's way, and which will provide a range of new, very rich experiences.
The MITX What’s Next Forum & Technology Awards are sponsored by Backbone Media, Lewis PR, Microsoft, Oracle, and Technology Review.
